Anthony, thank you so much so stopping by, and commenting on the interview on your dad. Yes, I think it takes yrs for children to fully appreciate all the wonderful things in their parents–it took me 40 yrs! : – )

Your dad is a special man to many, and has given all of us many thrilling memories.

I am the son of this remarkiable man,father,and a true friend of mine. I felt so proud to here about this article. Its about time I feel that people all around Louisville recognize this man! He only has the most deepest feelings for the University of Louisville. I have grown up going to the games with my father for many many years and I used to be ashamed of how he would stand out and do those handstands because of people saying how crazy he was. Not anyone more this man has done so much for UofL they should be damn proud to have such a enthuisastic fan.I feel UofL owes more to my dad for over 35yrs of exciting the fans!

Yes, excellent point. There would be tons of sponsors who would pay big bucks to sponsor this guy– and pay for any liabiolity policy, safety net, etc.

The answer seems simple–but I sense your point on the more rigid “control” certain anal U of L oficials seem to be seeking

Great interview Frank, and I’m glad you are getting some attention to this. I do not get the impression that this is a safety/liability issue. If it were, Sedat’s willingness to sign new hold harmless agreements would be enough. I think it is more about U of L’s desire to control every aspect of the game environment. Comments directed at game officials, while understandable from a fan standpoint, are not acceptable to U of L if there is a perception that this somehow might be sanctioned entertainment.

I guarantee you that the powers that be would let Sedat do his thing if there were corporate sponsorship (read $$$$) in it for them. Sedat’s handstand brought to you by Dean’s Milk. Maybe Sedat needs a sponsor that will pay to be associated with a video replay when he does his thing.

Sedat called me soon after I got home after the game. He was excited.

He said many, many people came up to him at the game, even Fred Cowgill, and said they had read my interview with him and supported him.

He wanted all Card fans to know that it was a “great gift” for him to see such out-pouring today, and that it meant so much to him.

I told him that the responses across Card blogs were overwhelmingly in his favor, and many were creative in trying to find compromise solutions.

I told him the simplest and best one I saw was to simply put a safety net under him.

He laughed (at the idea of such a thing.) But he said: “Yes, of course, a net if that is what they want. I just want do the handstand again. ”
Now, if someone could just find the right U of L official to think this through smartly, and resolve it soon.

Sadat was a neighbor of mine in Woodlawn Park years ago. He thrilled the kids and scared the women even back then. There is a little ageism here me thinks. Or perhaps just your everyday political correctness creepism. Sometimes I wonder if Louisville really wants to “Keep it Weird”. Louisville does, but UL sometimes acts like they don’t, routinely. Anyway, we are not Duke or UK or IU or MIT. We are U of L, and Sadat is part of the culture, and we should not let culture die if it is rightous and good and weird.
